Who are you and why are you contacting me?

If you've received a communication from us and have no idea who we are, let us introduce ourselves.

We're Octopus Energy. A Houston-based energy company with a single mission: make energy cheaper, simpler, and greener for all.

In January 2024, Lubbock Power and Light (LP&L) officially moved to retail electric competition and is no longer an energy provider for the people of Lubbock. During this process, LP&L chose three energy providers, TXU, Reliant, and Octopus Energy (us) as providers of last resort; meaning those who did not choose an energy provider would be defaulted onto one of those three providers.

If you are receiving any sort of communication from us, you've been defaulted to us during this transition process and we are your new energy provider.

But I like Lubbock Power and Light and want to stick with them.

Unfortunately, you can't and this is not an option. LP&L is no longer an energy provider and instead has transition into a Transmission/Distribution Service Provider role, aka "poles and wires." This means that LP&L will help maintain the equipment used to distribute electricity to the people of Lubbock. So if you have an outage, issues with your meter, or need to report something, then you would need to contact LP&L.

For questions about billing, payments, or electricity plans, you'll need to contact your energy provider.
