Have a plan to match?
If you’ve found a 12-month fixed-rate plan that’s cheaper than ours, just send over the EFL and we’ll take care of the rest.
How OctoMatch works:
- Send us your rate: Upload the EFL (Electricity Facts Label) from the other provider.
- Tell us your switch date: So we know when you’re looking to switch.
- We’ll run the numbers: Our team will calculate your monthly credit based on the rate difference.
- We’ll reach out with your offer: If it qualifies, we’ll confirm the monthly credit in writing.
- You enroll on our site: Once you accept the offer, just sign up through our regular enrollment flow.
- Credit kicks in after your first bill: We’ll start applying your monthly credit automatically after your first bill.
👉 Example: If their plan is 12.2¢/kWh and ours is 13¢, we’ll credit you the 0.8¢ difference each month- roughly $8/month or $96 a year back in your pocket!
What you’ll need to submit:
- A copy or screenshot of the EFL (Electricity Facts Label) from the other provider
- The date you plan to switch
- The address you're wanting to start service at
- Your name + email so we can follow up quickly
What qualifies for OctoMatch?
✅ Fixed-rate electricity plans only – No variable, indexed, or prepaid plans
✅ 12-month terms – We’re currently only matching plans with a 12-month contract length
✅ Residential service in the same load zone – Your match must be in the same TDSP (e.g. CenterPoint)
✅ Comparable usage tiers – We match standard usage tiers, not plans that rely on minimum usage gimmicks
✅ Publicly available rates – The rate must be available to the general public and documented in an EFL
❌ We do not match introductory offers, bundle-only promos, or rates with hidden fees or minimum usage penalties

What’s an EFL, and where can I find it?
The EFL (Electricity Facts Label) is a standardized document that breaks down the details of an energy plan- like the price per kWh, contract term, and fees. You can usually find it on the provider’s website next to the plan, or request it directly from them
What happens after I submit my match request?
A member of our team will review your info, calculate the credit you’d qualify for, and get in touch to confirm the details. If you agree, you’ll sign up on our website like normal- we’ll apply your monthly credit after your first bill.
What if the rate I found is just a tiny bit lower?
We’ll still match it! Even if the difference is small, we’ll credit you the amount each month for the length of your contract. Every cent counts.
Is this a one-time discount or ongoing?
The monthly credit lasts for the entire length of your 12-month contract with us.
What if I choose a different Octopus plan later?
Your OctoMatch credit only applies to the plan you were quoted for, so switching plans mid-contract would void the credit.
What kinds of plans don’t qualify?
We don’t match:
- Variable or indexed plans
- Prepaid electricity plans
- Plans with minimum usage gimmicks
- Introductory or “new customer only” specials
- Terms shorter or longer than 12 months
