Hi Barney, did you have a thermostat when you first signed up with Octopus Energy? 

I didn't have a smart thermostat when I first saw the Intelligent Octopus deal but I figured that getting one would end up paying for itself within a few months. 

Do you feel like you’re saving money with Intelligent Octopus? 

I'm saving around 25-30% compared to my previous energy plans. It's a win, win because having a smart thermostat saves me money and time. I like that I can easily keep track of how much energy I'm using and even if I'm not at home I can check to see I've turned the air con down.

How are you finding the Octopus Energy app? 

The Octopus app is easy to use, I tend to check it from my phone. I also like that my thermostat is linked to my Alexa - so I can check what's happening without even having to get up from my chair.

How did you hear about Octopus Energy? 

I did a lot of research into the best energy deal before switching to Octopus in February 2022. I saw that the cost savings were going to be great and I liked the sound of their customer reviews online too. I crunched all of the numbers before switching to Octopus and could see they were offering me the best deal.

How did you feel about giving your energy provider access to your thermostat? 

I wasn't concerned about giving Octopus access to my thermostat - I figured this tech is smart - I need to embrace it. I personally found it quite easy to install but it's great to hear that Octopus are offering customers support if they're not very tech savvy.

Recently I was able to check in on my home energy use while I was on vacation in Mexico. I like that I have peace of mind and can check that the house is running as I want it to be - even when I'm not there.

Have you recommended Octopus Energy to other people? 

I've already referred my sister and her husband to Octopus already as they live nearby. So far, the experience has been great. I like the ease of using the app from my phone, everything is well laid out and it's all very convenient. 

Is a renewable energy company important to you? 

The fact Octopus offers renewable energy is an added bonus too - we need to do everything we can to avoid more blackouts like we saw in winter 2021.
